New: Find/Replace up to 80% faster... and other performance improvements

While a performance gain of a few seconds may not seem like much, it is very significant for those of us in and out of our editor multiple times each day. File opening, file tab switching, and undo operations are all blazingly faster in v14.00. Performance boosts have been implemented for Perl regex searches with Find, Replace, and Find/Replace in Files - in some cases up to 80% faster!

Specific areas targeted for performance improvements include:

Startup speed when reloading files
Loading/closing large numbers of files at once
Loading/opening files (with temp files)

Perl regular expressions
Undo in larger files

New: Perl regular expression overhaul - better accuracy, speed, and functionality

Get more out of your regular expression searches in v14.00. We've completely overhauled the Perl regular expression engine in v14.00 to make UEStudio's implementation faster, more accurate, and more robust in functionality. Perl regexes are extremely more effecient in large files, and searching multiple files via Find in Files is much quicker. But perhaps most significant is the quality gains in functionality, with many improvements for advanced search operations such as look-aheads, look-behinds, and more.

New: Copy syntax highlighting as RTF or HTML

Many of you requested the ability to share your source code with others via Word doc, PDF, or webpage. It's now possible with the new "Copy Special" in v14.00! Copy your syntax-highlighted source as RTF (rich text format) for use in rich text editors such as MS Word, Outlook, and more. Or, get plain-text inline-styled HTML code to paste into a webpage or content editor to display in a browser!

New: Automatic syntax highlighting based on shebang and XML declarations

Modifying extensionless scripts from Unix-based systems? No problem! UEStudio will now detect the scripting language based upon the shebang line and apply the appropriate highlighting for Perl, PHP, and Python. Also, XML files that lack the ".xml" extension are automatically highlighted based upon a valid XML declaration at the top of the file. There is no special configuration required to enable this functionality; simply open the file!

New: Drag-and-drop file tab to create new instance

Recent versions of UEStudio introduced the ability to drag and drop files, via their file tabs, from one application instance to another. You asked for the ability to drag and drop files to new instances; v14.00 delivers!

New: Status bar functionality

UEStudio v14.00 includes an optional new status bar with some extremely useful controls!
Set the active file's encoding directly from the status bar. Change the active highlighting
type with the click of a button. Toggle read-only and insert/overstrike mode.
Users who prefer a basic status bar can still access this by enabling it in the new "Status
Bar" configuration item under "Application Layout".

Improved: Workspace Manager

Add a touch of style to your UEStudio workspace with updated file and folder icons in the explorer tab of the Workspace Manager. We've also added the option to show hidden files and folders (accessible in the context menu).
